Intro to Book Arts : A 6 week Immersion

Step into the world of bookmaking through this six-week foundational course designed to spark both technical skill and creative exploration. Together, we’ll learn the core techniques of bookbinding while experimenting with a wide range of materials, many of them salvaged or reclaimed.

Each week introduces a new binding method or craft skill, building your confidence and your personal toolkit. Alongside the hands-on work, we’ll engage in lively discussion about The Book as an object, a technology, a vessel for ideas, and an artistic medium in its own right. How do books hold memory? How do they shape knowledge? What stories can a structure tell before a single word is written?

You’ll leave with a series of handmade books, deeper comfort with tools and materials, and a richer understanding of the book as both craft and concept. This course is perfect for artists, writers, tinkerers, and anyone who feels drawn to the alchemy of paper, thread, and imagination.
